For the first time since launching this blog, I missed a deadline. But fear not, loyal readers! It was for the best possible genealogical reason! On Friday, 2November, I traveled to Marblehead, Massachusetts to meet my “new” cousins, the Graders.
My 2nd great grand aunt, Mary Elizabeth Klinck, was born in Memphis in 1837. She married George W. Grader and eventually moved her family to Marblehead. Many of her direct descendants still live there today and were kind enough to invite me up for the weekend. In addition to showing me around the beautiful town, I was treated to an afternoon in Mary Klinck Grader’s home where I drank coffee from Mary’s own china! Spectacular!
Luckily, the Graders also have an impressive collection of ancestral documentation and memorabilia! It will take a considerable amount of time and effort to sort, scan, and process it all – but I’m sure you’ll be reading about our finds in the near future. |
